If i drop a cl...?

I am taking this hard math cl and I have a midterm on Tuesday..its half take home, half in cl. The take home is soo hard.. i tried and cannot do it. I am going to switch majors because I see what im getting into. If I do not take the midterm and drop a cl before the deadline (April 7th).. will there be a penalty? I do not want this cl to ruin my G.P.A and I want to transfer colleges. I do not want a F in my transcript. So if I do not take the midterm, and drop before Aprlil 7th will I be okay?
