I'm driving from Pittsburgh, PA to San Diego, CA..?

Which sights should I stop to see along the way? I'm not pressed for time. I just want it to be a truly rewarding experience. The most straightforward route isn't necessary; I don't mind taking detours to see amazing landscape. Any recommendations?
