Was drunk and said something to ex?

well she isnt my ex but i was going to ask her out since we were close. well i have this girl on my msn which i met through school and we had a thing but one day we just stopped talking and dont talk on msn either but i was drunk one night and i think i sent a ofline instant message thing on msn to her saying she was hot. so obviously its going to be awkard if shes asks whats up so what do i say lol do i just tell her i was drunk but that may offend her because she may think i was saying she was ugly geez beer sucks.
