Do Geminis lie to make people feel good?

I hang out with 3 girls every weekend, one being my best friend who's a Scorpio. But my next best friend would be the Gemini. The last one is a Pisces and i'm just fond with her, she seems like she gets a thrill out of using people, so it makes me weary of our friendship. Anyway! Me and the Gemini made these awesome plans for me to sneak out and they would all pick me up for a party. They've done it once before so I know it's not an issue with them, and I know that they had transportation because the Pisces had texted and told me they did, but the Gemini ended up completely ignoring my texts, never picked me up, and texted the next morning saying they never got a ride and the guy who invited us cancelled. I was thinking because the girl who was driving all of us hates me, and she refused to come get me, so the Gemini lied to make me think they didn't go either, so none of us had a good time. I'm just pissed that she never tells me the truth straight up, and if I tell her that then she'll start getting defensive and I don't want her hating me. She's the most laid back one and I don't want to bring conflict in but it just pisses me off being blown off like that. Is this a typical Gemini trait or what? Would it be better to ignore it or confront her? I'm a Virgo.
